It's another story of success for Cumbria's hottest young chef Andrew Postlethwaite who has been named as the winner of North West Young Chef of the Year 2011! From a farming family and with the help of his mums pressure cooker, Andrew, who is the chef de partie at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal, was presented with the award following a cook-off at Manchester College's Fielden Campus in Didsbury on the 8th June.
“I was really, really happy to be runner-up last year, but to actually win is amazing,” said the 21-year-old, who lives on his parents’ farm in Lambrigg, near Kendal. I did a few things different this year, which I think gave me an edge. Instead of using water bath, for instance, which doesn’t involve much skill to prepare, I went for lobster, which is harder to get right". To read the press release click here.

Lakes Hospitality are pleased to announce Andrew Postlethwaite as Cumbrian Young Chef of the Year 2011, the award was presented to Andrew's family at the Best of Lakeland Show Dinner on 10th March alongside runners up. Andrew will now go on to compete in the North West finals in June.

A 2-day schedule of Chef Demonstrations by Michelin Star Chef's is now available to view on our website under 'Chef's Info'. Demonstrations by acclaimed North West Chef's Simon Rogan from L'enclume in Cartmel, Adam Townsley from Malmaison in Liverpool and Nigel Mendham from the Samling Hotel in Windermere to name a few, as well as Cordon Vert Cookery School by the Vegetarian Society.

It has been brought to our attention that a considerable number of businesses in the Lake District and surrounding areas have received a letter from a company called EXPO Guide asking companies to sign up for a payable entry to their online database 'www.expo-guide.com' for a 3 year period as an exhibitor at the Lakes Hospitality Show and other shows.
Whilst we cannot vouch for the sincerity of this letter or the company we would like to make businesses aware that Lakes Hospitality Association are in no way associated with Expo Guide, have any relations with them whatsoever or are responsible for any listings they publish under the banner of the Lakes Hospitality Show/Best of Lakeland Show.
